Winter warmers
What could be more comforting on a cold winter day than curling up with a hot cuppa and a delicious slice of hearty, wholesome cake? Think creamy chestnuts, poached pears, pumpkin, spices and toasted hazelnuts! This class will cover them all! We will make:
- a hearty pumpkin loaf with spices
- a red wine-poached pear cake with toasted
hazelnuts, and
- chestnut tartlets with creamed chestnuts,
orange zest and quark (a German soft cheese,
also used in baked cheese cake).
They are all perfect winter comfort foods and taste so amazing!
We will start the class around our kitchen table, and I will take you through the recipes step-by-step, before you roll up your sleeves and start kneading, chopping and mixing! We will finish off around the kitchen table with a bite to eat (a cheese and fruit platter),
AND … you will take one of each cake home, so you can share your creations with your family.
Apart from being fun, the class is designed to provide you with the skills and confidence to replicate each recipe at home. I also keep classes small (with a maximum of 6 participants), so that there is plenty of opportunity for questions and conversations to maximise your learning experience.
The duration of the class is approx. 4 hours. The class is suitable for beginners as well as those seeking to expand their repertoire.
